December 2006
“Once in a while, go into the field to smell the flowers, drink nectar,
and dance with the butterflies. The year of Pig/Boar is a lesson in
what the Chinese call Tao of Being instead of Doing.”
—Tai Chi Master Chungliang Al Huang
The Chinese Book of Animal Powers
Dear Friends,
Best wishes for a peaceful holiday season! I hope this letter finds you in good health and prospering. Enclosed is the Winter 2007 Tai Chi Schedule.
This year I have had the good fortune to host my Tai Chi teacher Master Chungliang Al Huang here in Boulder. He teamed up with David Darling for a deeply moving and inspiring performance. Also, Chungliang has recently returned from his pilgrimage to China, and his energies have been revitalized and renewed.
In the spirit of Tai Chi, Chungliang’s key message is that the form is just a structure for us to use to support our personal practice. He wants us to respond to our individual chi flow. He doesn’t want us to get stuck in the form. The intent is to keep us present and keep the form alive and vibrant. I will be attending the February Teacher’s Training Program and will bring my learning back to you in the upcoming year.
I returned to teach at Women’s Fitness Camp at Snow Mountain Ranch last August. We practiced our Tai Chi outdoors every morning in the mountain meadow with a view of snow-capped peaks. The weather was beautiful. What a thrilling experience!
I encourage you to join me for a Tai Chi class and/or Jin Shin Jyutsu session (a technique to balance and harmonize the energies in the physical and emotional bodies) in the new year. These practices help us to develop sanctuary and inner stillness. There are a number of new class times and locations. I am looking forward to dancing Tai Chi with you in the coming year of the Boar/Pig, as we take time to wallow in the comforting warm mud and enjoy life’s pleasures. Happy Holidays!
Take Care,

‘Keep a green tree in your heart, and perhaps the singing bird will come….’

“Your movement and your life can also become an
easy happening that follows the wind and the currents.”
–Tai Chi Master Chungliang Al Huang
Tai Chi will awaken your life force ~ chi energy ~ and harmonize your body, mind and spirit. It is a metaphor for life, a way of expressing your inner self, of coming back to your center, calming the clatter of your life.
