Summer 2009

“It takes the hard work of a dozen ants to open each bud of a peony...clickety-clack, biting the sutures and licking the glue. Then, one by one on Decoration Day, the blossoms explode tossing the ants...early that morning, we find these flowers opened, pink and white. Hundreds of ants all watching the sky. ”~Decoration Day by Ted Kooser

Hello Tai Ji and Jin Shin Jyutsu Friends,

I hope you are enjoying your summer. Below is my Summer Tai Ji class schedule. Some of our Tai Ji classes will be outdoors this summer. I also have office hours in both Boulder and Cherry Creek for Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions.

I have returned from two different Tai Ji training programs recently - February in Gold Beach, Oregon, and Memorial Day in Champagne-Urbana , Illinois.

There were two important insights from the workshops. I was reminded to return to the basic Tai Ji principles of center, chi and joy. We attend Tai Ji classes and workshops to allow our practice of Tai Ji to be fresh and new, like a flower blossoming or the peony opening on "decoration day", being grounded, rooted and open-hearted. It is important to slow down, take our time with our Tai Ji practice so we can build the vital energy within ourselves.

My newest offering will be summer Tai Ji workshops. The first one will be on Sunday, July 26th , 2-5pm. I am planning two additional workshops on Saturday, August 8th and September 12th, 10am-2pm. There is space for Tai Ji outdoors at the new location. See the below schedule for more details. I hope you can join us for a rejuvenating, replenishing, revitalizing afternoon of Tai Jii. Give yourself a deeper experience of your Tai Ji practice. If you refer a friend to the beginner's Tai Ji workshop you will receive $10 off the price of the workshop ($10 off per person referred) .

The focus of the summer workshops will be to utilize Tai Ji as a practice in becoming a spiritual warrior in times of insecurity or difficulty, to find the place of loving kindness, doubtlessness and joy inside yourself. Give yourself the opportunity to deepen your experience of Tai Ji which is a gift of peace, joy, and calmness.

Now, in the middle of the Year of the Ox, we are merrily riding on the back of the ox, seeing where we are and where we need to go, to contemplate the next half of the year. Tai Ji helps us to get focused, and to find that peaceful, centered, still place for the rest of the year. The ox represents the chi energy inside us, “the mechanism of awakening, ” that place of knowingness and wisdom, or conscious awareness, of mindfulness and peacefulness. It allows us to be steady and planful in the face of adversity.

I'm looking forward to seeing you in a Summer Tai Ji workshop or class, or for a Jin Shin Jyutsu or Reiki session. Keep dancing your Tai Ji!

“Riding the Ox, I leisurely wander toward home. Exotic flute melodies echo through sunset clouds. Each beat and each tune indescribably profound. No words are needed for those who understand music.”

Cynthia
