“In the Year of the Ox, you chew things over and digest everything. You learn what the Chinese call WU WEI, meaning you will not get in your own way, but will let life flow smoothly.”~Al Huang
Hello Tai Chi and Jin Shin Jyutsu Friends,
I hope this letter finds you well. Happy Chinese New Year of the Earth Ox! The Ox is hard-working, dependable, and strong. The New Year is a time to align with our intentions, purpose, and mission, and to sign up for new Tai Chi classes and Jin Shin Jyutsu/Reiki sessions!
Below is my new Tai Chi schedule for Winter 2009. Please note the newest offerings for my Tai Chi classes. The Five Elements, the First and Third Circle classes will be starting on March 23rd. I'm looking forward to sharing the new learnings from this year's Advanced Tai Chi Teachers Training Program that I will be attending next month with Master Chungliang Al Huang.
“In the Zen Buddhist fable, the Ox runs away from the child to play hide-and-seek, until the child learns to trace his steps, finds him, tames him, and eventually becomes one with the Ox – riding him merrily, while playing a bamboo flute.” (The Chinese Book of Animal Powers by Chungliang Al Huang)
When we first begin our Tai Chi practice sometimes we’re confused about which move comes next and sometimes, as in life, our emotions and our mind take us in many directions. Yet, as we continue to practice, we find it becomes increasingly important to our spiritual path. As we practice our form, our mind and our emotions become more calm and we become more and more comfortable. Like riding the ox merrily while playing the flute, we are dancing the Tai Chi form and are at one with it, being moved by the chi energy itself.
The Year of the Ox calls on us to allow ourselves to move a bit more slowly –like the Ox- to become more steady and responsible. This allows us to move triumphantly towards the achievements that we want to accomplish in the new year –but with more grace and less pretension. Tai Chi is the practice –the slow, steady, gentle movements performed again and again. In the year of the Ox we may feel overly thoughtful but we should not hesitate to gallop to the front of the line, at times. This year, in your Tai Chi form, let yourself feel steady, confident and triumphant.
My Cherry Creek office hours remain on Wednesdays for Jin Shin Jyutsu and Reiki, and on all other days in Boulder.
Keep dancing your Tai Chi in the New Year!
Sincerely,

|
